New Year Prayer
As this year ends and a new one begins, many will look to the new year to bring them happiness and fortune. It may do so, but changing the things that you know cause you or others pain, or hold you back, is a huge part in making that happiness happen, be it abuse of alcohol, drugs, money, people, gambling. You cannot be passive in your own destiny. You cannot wait for things to rectify themselves in your life. You can take steps to change them, if you really want. If you are not sure if you have a problem, ask someone close to you, they know. If you choose not to, then you probably have.
So pray today for serenity to accept the things you cannot change, the courage to change the things you can and the wisdom to know the difference.

Donate used Mobiles to the Missions
A box will be left in each Chapel for the collection of old mobile phones with the batteries next weekend, if you have not already sent yours off. I will send them to support the work of Missionaries of the Sacred Heart in Third World Countries. They want any Nokia, Motorola, Ericsson, Panasonic, Siemens or Sony phones with the battery. They do not want packaging or chargers. They can also take HP, Dell, Lexmark empty inkjet cartridges.

Church Envelopes
Please take a box of envelopes home with you if you have not already done so. Please print your name and address on the first two envelopes of the year if you wish to have your donation recorded.

Congratulations to Evelyn and Nigel Lobley, who had their son James Christened on Christmas Eve. He made great friends with the cow, who apparently kept him very entertained.
